The United States will introduce a special commemorative version of its passport to mark the country’s 250th anniversary of independence.

According to the State Department, the limited-edition passports will include a portrait of President Donald Trump on an interior page, accompanied by elements of the Declaration of Independence, the American flag, and the president’s signature rendered in gold.

The new design is scheduled to become available starting in July. It will be issued exclusively through the Washington Passport Agency on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Americans applying online or at other passport agencies will continue to receive the standard version.

Officials emphasized that the commemorative passports will retain all current security features, ensuring they remain fully valid for international travel. The initiative forms part of broader observances for America 250, celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

This marks the first time a sitting president’s image has appeared inside a US passport. The announcement has drawn attention as the latest example of the current administration incorporating presidential imagery into official government items.

The standard US passport design will otherwise remain unchanged for the vast majority of applicants.
