Meta, the massive company behind Facebook and Instagram, has told its employees that it will now be watching almost everything they do on their work computers. Specifically, they are tracking "keystrokes" (every time a worker presses a key on the keyboard) and "mouse clicks."
The company isn't just doing this to check if people are working hard; they are using it as a giant lesson for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Think of it like a student watching a master craftsman to learn a trade. By recording exactly how humans use software to finish their daily tasks, Meta can build "AI agents"—basically smart computer programs—that can eventually do those same jobs automatically. While the company says this is necessary to make AI more helpful, it highlights a growing trend of "digital surveillance" in the modern workplace.
